Master Gardener Talks upcoming: Lake Merritt Garden Talk - Irrigation. Saturday July 22, 11 - 12 David Blood & Hugh Globerson An explanation of the drip irrigation system used at the Master Gardeners’ site at Lake Merritt Gardens. Presentation of how to construct a drip irrigation system that waters different types of plants that have different watering needs. The water requirements for various plants growing in Oakland, and surrounding cities, will also be covered. A tour of the Trials garden will be given to show the different ways drip irrigation can be used. Lake Merritt shoreline and Lakeside Park have many plants and trees of interest, but the highlight of plant life at the lake is in the gardens, which includes a superb Bonsai Garden, Community/Edible Garden, Japanese Garden, Mediterranean Garden, Lakeside Palmetum, Rhododendron Garden, Sensory Garden, Succulent Garden, Vireya Display Garden, Pollinator Garden, and Bay Friendly Demonstration Garden.
