Lake Merritt Volunteering
There are many opportunities for volunteering at Lake Merritt, with groups or independently. Check links for scheduling updates. Children's Fairyland needs volunteers for special events. Cleveland Cascades need volunteers the first Saturday of the month for cleaning, pruning, weeding, planting. Gardens at Lake Merritt needs volunteers every Saturday of each month, 9:30 - 12:30. Also in Lakeside Park Gardens, Pollinator Posse and Bonsai Garden have flexible scheduling openings for volunteers. Call 510.534.0559 to volunteer. Lake Merritt Institute needs lakeside clean up volunteers Tuesdays at 10:30 and Saturdays at 10 a.m.. Lake Merritt Joggers & Striders need volunteers on race day, the 4th Sunday of every month. Lake Merritt Weed Warriors need volunteers usually on the last Saturday of each month, 9 - 12. Oakland Municipal Band needs set-up volunteers for free park performances every July Oakland Public Works Adopt-A-Spot has an incredible amount of volunteering possibilities in the lake area. Rotary Nature Center Friends cleanup and planting RNC area the 3rd Saturday of the month. Running for a Better Oakland program helps students prepare for races. Volunteer trainers needed.
